Pensioners protest outside the DWP on Monday

Pensioners protested in London on Monday of this week as part of a national day of action over pension cuts (see picture).

They gathered outside the Department for Work and Pensions for the protest, organised by the National Pensioners Convention.

Ellen, chair of Lambeth Pensioners Action Group, told Socialist Worker, “I’m out here today to defend our pensions and oppose the change from the RPI to CPI, together with the extension of the retirement age.

“We have to defend what we have for future generations.”
