Protesting against Connexions cuts in Hull

Issue No. 2248

Hundreds protested against cuts to Connexions careers advice services in Hull last Saturday.

The protest, organised by the Unison union, was joined by parents, students and local Labour MPs.

The Connexions service employs 100 workers, but most are set to be made redundant in the cuts. Some 20 have already left.

Union rep Nicky Osborne said, “Hull is already a blackspot for youth unemployment and the decision to make these cuts will make it even worse.”
