New ballots against job cuts in education

Issue No. 2248

Lecturers at South Tyneside College have voted to ballot for strikes to defend jobs and pay.

UCU union members held an emergency union meeting on Thursday of last week.

They are fighting plans that put 200 jobs at risk and cuts that will slash up to £11,000 a year from some workers’ pay.

UCU members at Salford University may also ballot over plans to cut 218 jobs.
