The Education Activist Network is calling on its supporters, groups and affiliates to join a protest outside the Spanish embassy at Belgrave Square in London (Hyde Park Corner tube)from 7pm on Monday.
EAN says, 'Six weeks before 30 June – when up to one million workers in Britain will strike – Spanish youths and students have shown the way to fight back against cuts and austerity. They have succeeded in bringing the spirit of Tahrir Square in Egypt to cities and towns across Spain.'
Spanish activists have also mobilised in London and other cities and towns in Britain. In London more than 800 people have protested outside the Spanish embassy.
Monday's demonstration is a chance to show solidarity with the Spanish protesters, and to organise resistance in Britain.
EAN has also called a Globalise the Fightback meeting at Birkbeck College, London, on Friday 27 May at 6pm.
It will include a live video link-up with an activist from the Spanish youth organization Juventud Sin Futuro which has been at the centre of the mobilisations in Madrid.
Esther and Hugo, two of the main activists from Real Democracy Ya! and the occupation of Belgrave Square in London will also speak.
Hala Kamal from Cairo University, who will be addressing the UCU lecturers' union conference the following day, will speak about the struggle to remove vice chancellors with links to the regime of Hosni Mubarak from Egyptian universities.
