The family of Michael Sweeney, a 37 year old scaffolder, have demanded an inquiry into his death.
He died after police were called to the Approach Tavern pub in Bethnal Green, east London, on 18 April. Medical reports show that Michael was handcuffed to a trolley as he was wheeled into A&E at the Royal London hospital.
“He was held face down on a bed with seven officers laying over him,” his niece, Lisa Bishop, told the press.
Eyewitnesses claim Michael, who was celebrating news he was to be a father, was “stressed out” in the pub, but had calmed down before police arrived.
