Bus bosses target Unite union reps

Issue No. 2255

Bus drivers at National Express East Dock Street depot in Dundee are battling attacks on their contracts.

Management’s refusal to negotiate with the drivers’ Unite union, despite existing joint agreements, sparked two unofficial walkouts on 19 May.

This followed acting director Simon Mathieson throwing drivers’ reps out of a meeting arranged to discuss changes to conditions and the disciplining of 12 drivers.

Bob McKelvie and Alan Clark, Unite branch chair and secretary, face disciplinary hearings for misconduct because of the walkout.

Drivers are threatening further action if the reps are victimised.
