Teachers at two Coventry schools were on strike last week opposing the council’s plans to turn their schools into academies.
Tile Hill Wood NUT and NASUWT union members walked out on Tuesday and Wednesday.
NUT members in Woodlands school struck on Wednesday and Thursday.
Over 100 teachers were on strike in defence of state education.
They held three fantastic pickets, leafleted parents at local primary and secondary schools, and collected nearly a thousand signatures opposing academy status in three days.
Strikers from both schools held a march through the city to the Council House on Wednesday.
Several councillors came to speak to the striking teachers and the city council was forced to make a statement voicing its opposition to academies.
But despite receiving the petition, school governors are still pressing ahead with their takeover.
