Cumbrian council workers ready to ballot over single status cuts

Issue No. 2256

The Unison union may ballot council workers in Cumbria for industrial action over “single status” pay cuts.

The average worker at the council faces a pay cut of £3,390. The county’s teaching assistants will be particularly hard hit, losing up to a third of their wages. More than 400 marched against the cuts earlier this month.

The union has sent a letter to members saying it may ballot.
