Printers make an impact over jobs

Issue No. 2257

Some 50 Unite union members at the Wyndeham Impact printers in Basingstoke are striking each week in defence of their terms, conditions and jobs.

Two years ago the workers had an £85 a week wage cut. This was on the basis that it would be temporary and help the company following the collapse of the Landsbanki bank, the company’s principle bankers. The private equity firm Walstead Investments purchased Wydenham Impact’s group. The company then reneged on the wage cut commitment and imposed a continuing wage freeze.

It also cut sick pay, and announced redundancies.
