Anti-abortion campaigners are looking to curtail women’s rights to choose with a back door manoeuvre.
“Poverty tsar” for the government and Labour MP Frank Field, along with Tory Nadine Dorries, want to force women seeking abortions to have compulsory counselling.
Now they want to drive through the attack by changing regulations, rather than changing the law. This would mean there would be no parliamentary debate.
A pro-choice protest has been called for Saturday 9 July from 1.30pm, Old Palace Yard, Westminster.
