Winchester demo against the cuts

Issue No. 2258

Hundreds of trade unionists, community campaigners, students and pensioners took to the streets of Winchester last Saturday to protest against cuts to public services.

Coaches brought marchers from Andover, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight for the county-wide protest, organised by Hampshire Association of Trade Union Councils.

The action received support from shoppers, who stopped to clap and cheer as the march made its way through the city centre.

A closing rally was addressed by representatives of Southampton council strikers, the Save Our Children’s Centres campaign and Jeremy Corbyn MP, among others.
