Bullying dispute settled at Selwyn primary school

Issue No. 2259

Teachers called off a planned strike at Selwyn primary school in Waltham Forest last week.

The NUT union members were set to strike for the second time on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week against bullying.

Teachers struck for a day in May in protest at the management style of Maureen Okoye.

The strike was a big success, with lots of teachers joining picket lines and support from parents.

But the union says it has reached an agreement over the role that acting consultant head teacher Maureen Okoye will play, and over the reinstatement of teachers whose contracts were due to end.

NUT branch secretary for Waltham Forest, Rinaldo Frezatto, said that the dispute had been “settled”.
