Diss teachers to strike against academies

Issue No. 2259

Teachers in the NASUWT union at Diss High School in Norfolk have voted to strike against academies.

Governors at the school have applied for academy status.

Teachers are concerned that the move would affect their pay and conditions.

Workers were set to strike on Friday of this week.

If the strike goes ahead, it will be the first strike by teachers against academies in Norfolk.

The NASUWT union says that there has not been enough consultation about the academy plans.
