Essential Killing

Issue No. 2260

Taliban fighter Mohammed (Vincent Gallo) is detained by a US patrol in Afghanistan, and subjected to the full inhumanity of the occupation.

He takes an opportunity to escape while being transported through eastern Europe—but is then hunted like an animal.

This beautiful but savage film has hardly any dialogue or music, and moves at a breathless pace as we see Mohammed’s desperate fight for survival.

Essential Killing
directed by Jerzy Skolimowski
