Rendition probe is ‘whitewash’

Issue No. 2260

The Gibson Inquiry into British torture of terror suspects and the use of rendition flights has been described as a “whitewash” by human rights charity Reprieve.

The inquiry has decided that it will not make public any evidence that will damage the “understanding” Britain has with other countries.

Much of the torture and rendition happened with the colusion, and under the gaze of soldiers, diplomats and government officials from other countries—particularly the US.
