Workers at Shorefields Community School in Dingle, Liverpool, struck on Tuesday of this week.
It was the fourth strike in an ongoing campaign to stop the school being privatised and converted into an academy. Members of the NUT, NASUWT and GMB unions struck together.
The University of Chester would run the planned academy. Strikers traveled to Chester to protest at the plans.
Liverpool City Council has voted unanimously against the academy conversion. And there’s widespread opposition in the city.
Teachers, parents and children marched in Liverpool last Saturday. They carried a coffin to mark the death of local accountable education.
The governing bodies of seven high schools in Sefton want to convert to academy status, along with Shorefields school in Liverpool.
The academy plans would leave Sefton with just four community non‑denominational high schools.
