Michael Gove got cash from Murdoch

Issue No. 2261

News International paid Tory education secretary Michael Gove £5,000 a month for one hour a week’s work as a journalist. That’s £1,250 an hour.

The payments appear on a list of shadow cabinet ministers’ outside interests, which the Tories published in 2009.

The links between Gove and Rupert Murdoch go deeper. Both admire Joel Klein—the chancellor for education in New York between 2002 and 2010—who closed down and privatised schools. Klein is now CEO of News Corp’s education division.

The education division’s aim is to produce “individualised, technology-based” tools and software for schools.

This as a project that will reduce education to sitting in front of computers while teachers are sacked.
