Gap between rich and poor has grown

Issue No. 2262

The poorest people in Britain have seen their share of national income shrink by a quarter over the past 30 years, a study shows.

Meanwhile the share going to the richest 1 percent is up by 50 percent. These findings come from a new report, Missing Out, published by the Resolution Foundation.

It says the bottom half of earners receive £12 of every £100 of gross domestic product. The top 10 percent, meanwhile, grab £14.
