Union support grows for 3 September demonstration

Issue No. 2266

The powerful Unite union has thrown its support behind the march against the racist English Defence League (EDL).

Unite is the third national union to pledge its support, alongside the PCS civil service workers’ union and the CWU communication workers’ union.

RMT rail workers’ union groups have now also backed the demonstration, including the London Region, Eurostar and Engineers’ branches.

EDL Out of East London meeting for trade unionists. Tuesday 30 August, 6pm, Oxford House, Derbyshire Street, Bethnal Green, London E2 6HG. Speakers include Billy Hayes (CWU), Zita Holbourne (PCS), Max Levitas (Cable Street veteran) and John McLoughlin (Tower Hamlets Unison).
