Unity against cuts in Liverpool

Issue No. 2266

Firefighters and civil service workers are joining forces in Liverpool to fight the cuts.

Members of the PCS and FBU unions want to stop the closure of the job centre. They are also opposing the axing of an engine at the fire station in the Old Swan area.

Fire bosses want to cut other engines across Merseyside, including in Toxteth, Speke, Wallasey and Crosby. They also want to slash 102 jobs.

A public consultation on job centre closures ends on Monday of next week and local Labour MP Luciana Berger has a petition against the cuts.
