Ballot opens at Shropshire council

Issue No. 2267

Ballot papers have gone out to workers at Shropshire council as they begin their vote for strikes.

The Unison members are fighting bosses’ plans to sack them all on 30 September unless they sign up to 5 percent pay cuts.

Bosses also want to force through worse hours, and scrap overtime and standby payments. They even plan to remove sick pay for the first three days of any illness.

The branch has held a series of big members’ meetings and has launched a county-wide campaign to win a yes vote in the ballot.
