Abdul Omer Mohsin, sacked Unite convenor for Sovereign buses in London, received good support from reps, convenors and officers at the London Bus Conference last week.
“I was really encouraged by the response I got when I addressed the conference,” Abdul told Socialist Worker. “Nearly everyone signed up to back the campaign.”
Support is flooding in for Abdul from Unite union branches across the country.
Abdul was sacked while leading a fight over low pay and poor conditions at Sovereign.
His Unite union said that Abdul was being victimised because of his union activities.
Drivers at the firm in London have voted to ballot in support of Abdul. They have rejected electing a new convenor until the case is resolved.
But it has dragged on for over a year. The pressure has caused Abdul to be hospitalised and left him in financial difficulties. The union should throw everything into winning Abdul his job back.
