Southampton care workers meet over strike

Issue No. 2268

Social care workers in Southampton are set to meet on Wednesday of next week to decide whether to strike again.

The Unison and Unite members took three months of rolling walkouts up to the middle of last month.

Social workers have been one of the sections at the heart of the action.

The council workers have fought a long and bitter battle against the Tory council, which tore up their contracts in July to impose 5 percent pay cuts.

Workers across the council continue to take action short of a strike.
