Arms fair protest cracks Theresa May's demo ban

Issue No. 2269

Arms traders gathered in east London this week for the DSEI arms fair.

Delegations included representatives from the Bahraini regime, which brutally repressed the movement for democracy there this year.

The exhibition centre is in Newham, one of the boroughs covered by Theresa May’s month-long protest ban.

But on the eve of protests against the arms fair, the government repealed the ban for fear of a legal challenge.
