God’s Wars by May Ayres

by John Molyneux
Issue No. 2269

This show by anti-war sculptor May Ayres, a regular in Left in Vision at the Marxism festival, is truly outstanding.

To say that Ayres merits wider recognition is a huge understatement—as far as I know she is completely unrecognised in the art world. She combines superb technique, razor‑sharp politics and deep human compassion.

The centrepiece of the show is a two-faced Tony Blair kneeling in prayer on the bodies of those he has murdered, which perfectly captures his sanctimonious hypocrisy.

The show really demands to be seen.
