Around 30 students staged a one-day occupation today (Friday) at Scotland’s leading arts academy, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

They were protesting against plans to charge students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland £9,000 a year for degree courses.

This latest occupation followed a pre-term sit-in at Edinburgh university last week against a similar fee plans.

The students are demanding the withdrawal of the proposed £9,000 fees, an end to cuts and compulsory redundancies, and that the university upholds the principle of Scottish education being free to all.
