Tory health bill must be stopped

by Yuri Prasad
Issue No. 2271

Campaigners have vowed to fight until the very last moment to stop the Tory health and social care bill.

The government’s plans will hand the NHS to the private sector and allow the health secretary to wash his hands of the resulting chaos.

Groups including UK Uncut, Keep our NHS Public and the health workers’ Network, will descend on parliament on Sunday

9 October. That’s just three days before the House of Lords votes on the bill.

Health workers will attend the protest in uniform, while activists plan to cover themselves in fake blood.

They plan to block Westminster Bridge together at 1pm.

Coaches have been booked to bring campaigners to London from several other cities.

On Tuesday 11 October, hours before the bill reaches its final stages, the NHS Support Federation will hold a protest meeting in the House of Commons.

The meeting, which starts at 5.45pm, will bring together opposition to the government’s plans and host speakers including Caroline Lucas MP and John Healey MP.

Places at the meeting must be booked in advance by emailing [email protected]
