UCU Left gets ready for battle

by Laura Miles
Issue No. 2271

UCU Left supporters held our AGM and conference last Saturday. Delegates discussed how to make the action short of a strike, which begins this week in pre-92 universities, effective. The action is against the imposition of worse terms for the pension scheme.

The union is lined up for the strike over pensions on 30 November. We are also organising for the mass lobby of parliament on 26 October.

UCU Left will be fielding a full field of candidates in the coming union elections for national officers and the NEC.

At our hustings last week we elected Mark Campbell to run for general secretary and Angie McConnell was endorsed as the candidate for vice-president.

A full report of the conference and hustings is on the UCU Left website. Go to http://www.uculeft.org
