Strike ballot at Action for Children

Issue No. 2272

Union members at charity Action for Children have begun a ballot for strikes over pay and attacks on conditions.

The 1,000 Unison and Unite union members are fighting cuts that include reductions in redundancy pay.

Some domestic and admin staff at the charity earn as little as £11,000.

“Action for Children staff do an amazing and extremely difficult job,” said Mike Robinson, Unite national officer for children’s charities.

“Their pay is not keeping pace with inflation and that’s putting our members into further financial hardship.”

Unison’s ballot closes in mid-October and Unite’s at the beginning of November.
