Unemployed youth march to London

Issue No. 2272

Some 50 unemployed campaigners are to recreate the Jarrow March of 75 years ago by walking to London.

The march will finish in London with a demonstration on 5 November.

The Youth March for Jobs is calling on the government to create jobs and apprenticeships as well as reinstating Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) payments.

Around 200 men marched from Jarrow to London in October 1936 to protest against unemployment.
