Up For Hire Live

Issue No. 2273

As if unemployment wasn’t humiliating and soul-destroying enough, those bright sparks at BBC3 have decided to turn it into a reality gameshow.

Up For Hire Live features Richard Bacon and Tina Daheley hosting a “unique multi-platform interactive show”. They offer “tips, advice and coaching” on how to get a job.

The first episode involves Chris, Ben, Kirsty and Sasha being plunged into “entry-level roles at Crealy’s adventure park in Devon”. The boss of Crealy’s is then invited to pass judgement on them.

The programme also features an “interactive video wall where job seekers can let the world know they are Up For Hire”.

We are assured that this is all part of BBC3’s “attempt to really explore the issues surrounding unemployment”.
