Rally to save Camberwell job centre

by Chris Kelly
Issue No. 2275

Around 70 people rallied in defence of Camberwell Jobcentre on Thursday of last week. They are fighting Tory plans to close the centre—the only one in the local area.

Jobcentre workers and users, local trade unionists and residents attended the evening of speeches, food and drinks on Camberwell Green, organised by the PCS union.

Speakers included PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka and a jobseekers’ allowance claimant. Local trade unionists from Unite, NUT, and Unison also spoke.

Many speakers focused on the 30 November strikes, and unity against the cuts.
