2,000 march over cuts impact on women

Issue No. 2279

More than 2,000 people marched on parliament last Saturday to highlight how government cuts are impacting on women.

Some protesters, who say the cuts are turning the clock back for women, dressed in old-fashioned clothing and donned rubber gloves and chains.

The majority of the public sector workers who have lost their jobs so far are women. More than one million women are now unemployed.

The protest was organised by the Fawcett Society.
