0ut against job cuts in Salford

Issue No. 2279

Teachers at an academy school in Salford struck on Tuesday of this week against job cuts.

The NUT and NASUWT union members are fighting 13 planned redundancies at MediaCityUK, which is run by Oasis.

One NUT member has already been made redundant. The school heard an appeal over the sacking, even though the worker couldn’t attend.

He is considering making a claim of constructive dismissal.

Workers say the school has failed to consult properly over the cuts.
