A leaked report confirms that the Tories aim to privatise much of the NHS.
Health minister Andrew Lansley’s new health bill already plans to move 60 percent of the NHS budget into the hands of GP consortia.
The Tories claim that this will shift control of health decisions to local doctors who will listen to the concerns of local people.
The leaked draft document, Developing Commissioning Support, shows that this is a lie.
It describes how private companies will set up support for the consortia from 2016.
According to the British Medical Association’s Richard Vautrey, the document explicitly suggests that private companies will come in and take over these services.
East London GP Jonathan Tomlinson told Channel 4 News, “There’s almost nothing left for us to do.
“And it even goes so far as saying that they can see a role for GPs perhaps in managing learning difficulties or other small local community services but even then private companies will be doing the directing.”
