Drivers and warehouse workers at retail giant Argos struck over pensions on Thursday of last week in Motherwell, near Glasgow.
The workers, in the Unite union, are employed by French subcontractor Norbert Dentressangle. Local union rep Scott McDade said, “The union has been negotiating with Dentressangle since March, but they keep insisting they need to cut costs.
“This is from an organisation that made £3.6 billion last year and are currently 25 percent ahead of budget this year.”
Unite also warned car maker BMW that it could face industrial action in the new year unless it reverses plans to close its pension scheme to new starters and cut agency pay.
