Action for Children workers get cash but pay freeze too

Issue No. 2283

A pay freeze will go ahead at charity Action for Children after unions accepted a £60 per worker payment to call off strikes.

The Unison and Unite unions accepted the offer to end a long-running dispute over pay.

Some 82 percent of the Unison union’s 200 members at the charity voted to accept the deal.

The money will go into December pay packets so staff get it before Christmas.

“No one is pretending that this is a fantastic settlement,” said Mike Short, a national officer at Unison.
