UCU to escalate fight for pensions

Issue No. 2283

Executive meetings of the University and College union have decided unanimously to escalate the current action around pensions in both the TPS and USS schemes.

A final decision on how best to escalate the USS dispute was deferred until a delegate conference for USS branches in January.

Activists in all USS branches now need to pass motions in their branches for submission to the January conference along the following lines:

“Rolling regional, national, and UK-wide strikes proved successful in the first phase of the USS dispute and HE (USS) delegate conference resolves to deploy, alongside other agreed actions, escalating rolling regional, national, and UK-wide strikes, co-ordinated with the actions of our TPS branches and other unions where possible, as the best means to escalate our action on USS.”
