Disabled workers fight closures

Issue No. 2283

Remploy workers and their supporters protested outside Huddersfield town hall, West Yorkshire, on Wednesday of last week, to demand that their factory stays open.

Remploy employs hundreds of disabled people around Britain—including 35 at the car headrest factory in Huddersfield.

But the government is reviewing their funding, meaning that all 54 Remploy factories face the threat of closure in April 2013.
