Longest riots jail term yet

Issue No. 2284

The courts have set another grim record for the longest sentence yet given in connection with the August 2011 riots.

Ryan Kichenside, an 18 year old from Croydon, was sentenced to five years and ten months in jail on 21 December for violent disorder, robbery and burglary. He has a young son.

It came as police launched another series of raids over the holiday break.
