Edinburgh privatisation plan opposed

Some 2,000 Edinburgh city council staff could see their jobs transferred to private contractors under council plans.

Cleaners, janitors and caterers could be contracted by Mitie if plans go through.

Two months ago plans to privatise bin collectors and street cleaners were ditched by the council after sustained opposition by unions.

Unions have vowed to fight this privatisation too.
