A nasty attack on schools

Issue No. 2286

In between calling for yachts for the royals, Tory education secretary Michael Gove has been waging war on teachers.

Last week he announced plans to make it easier to sack teachers.

Now he wants to change the way that schools are rated.

Schools currently judged as “satisfactory” will be graded as “requires improvement”.

This will enable hated schools inspectorate Ofsted to inspect those schools even more frequently.

The Tories want to distract attention from the harm that privatisation and cuts are inflicting on schools.

They want to ignore the impact that poverty and racism have too.

So they are targeting individual schools and teachers. They hope to use this to force more schools to become academies.

We shouldn’t fall for their lies.
