Activists fight online clampdown

Issue No. 2289

Activists are set to gather in London this Saturday to oppose the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (Acta).

The agreement would set up an international framework for targeting the illegal distribution of copyrighted material.

This would criminalise people suspected of posting copyrighted material online. Campaigners also claim it could affect the production of generic drugs.

The agreement has already been signed by 22 European Union member states, including Britain, and is soon to be ratified by the European parliament.

Assemble Saturday at 2pm, British Music House, 25-27 Berners St, London W1T 3LR
