Stop Andrew Lansley selling off the NHS

They’ve pocketed billions in bonuses. They’ve wrecked the global economy. Now the fat cats want to bleed the NHS dry.

Tory health minister Andrew Lansley has a plan—to dismantle the NHS as we know it and hand it piece by piece to his banker pals.

His health bill returns to parliament this week. Despite a “pause” for the much-heralded “listening exercise”, it is the same attack that provoked such outrage previously.

James O’Shaughnessy, a former adviser to David Cameron, this week admitted that the government had just used “different tactics” to ram through the “same principles”.

And what are those principles? We got a glimpse this week when Hinchingbrooke hospital in Cambridgeshire became the first to be run by a private company.

The hospital is now controlled by a City hedge fund.

On the day that was originally announced, Cameron made a speech saying he wanted to “drive the NHS to be a fantastic business for Britain”.

This is the future Cameron and Lansley have planned for the NHS—bankers creaming huge profits out of its £100 billion budget.

That will be paid for with job cuts and ward closures—and by letting the rich pay to jump the queue. Now opposition is growing once again, as more health workers’ groups come out against the plans.

We need to build the anger into a movement that can sweep away the Tories.
