A doctors’ surgery in central London is set to close in April—after being sold twice in four years.
Staff at the Camden Road Surgery have been told to pack their bags.
The GP practice’s list of 4,700 patients is to be “dispersed” across other surgeries—with some being transferred to practices in other boroughs.
In 2008 campaigners fought the decision to outsource the surgery to private firm UnitedHealth UK.
In April of last year they sold it on to The Practice Plc. It lasted just a year with that firm before collapsing.
Local MP Frank Dobson said, “This is what you get with marketisation—and this is exactly what the Tories want everywhere.”
