Victim's family condemns racist EDL march

Issue No. 2291

The family of a 17-year old who was violently assaulted in Hyde, near Manchester, earlier this month have told the EDL not to hold an anti-Asian protest this Saturday.

The EDL wanted to use the attack as a cynical excuse to bring their violence to the streets of Hyde. But the mother of victim Daniel Stringer-Prince pleaded for the racists not to come.

“We don’t want this march to go ahead,” Cheryl Stringer told the Manchester Evening News. “It won’t make anything better. It will just cause more problems.”

Hundreds at LMHR gig in Margate

Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) returned to Margate, Kent, on Saturday night.

Some 400 local people were entertained by local hero Mic Righteous who pushed the message of “unity against austerity”.

The event was organised and run by young people from the local LMHR group. They are now planning a big event for the summer.
