Renee Rose, a founder of the Read All about the Labour League of Youth (“Rally”) journal in 1949, died on 8 February aged 86.

Rally, the journal of Birkenhead Labour Party, was published by the Trotskyist group The Club. This included members Gerry Healy, Jock Haston, Ted Grant, Millie Lee, George Noseda, Jimmy Deane, Duncan Hallas and Tony Cliff.

Renee was active on the left until her health began to fail.

She was in CND and the Anti Nazi League. She continued to support Trotskyist groups and campaign for a left wing alternative to the end.

When husband and Rally co-founder Alf died in 2000, Renee insisted on playing the Internationale for the Tory mayor who was present at his funeral. The song was played for Renee as well.
