Elections for the UCU national executive committee and national officer positions will end on Thursday of next week. UCU Left is backing Mark Campbell for general secretary.
Mark is a lecturer at London Metropolitan University and is on the UCU executive. He has played a leading role in the fight against cuts and to defend education at London Met, as well as building solidarity with other workers.
If elected, Mark has pledged to accept only his current wage plus any increases the union wins for its members. He will donate the rest of his salary to the union’s strike fund.
UCU Left is standing several other candidates in the elections.
They include Graham Mustin from Barnsley College and Liz Lawrence from Sheffield Hallam University.
