Sixth form college teachers in the NUT union outside London are set to strike for half a day on Thursday of next week over funding cuts and pay.
This follows a half-day strike in London last month.
Next week’s strike must be part of a serious campaign to reverse funding cuts. The pensions strike on 28 March can boost the campaign.
Last month’s strike forced the employers’ Sixth Form College Forum to demand a meeting with the government over funding, which is a small step forward.
It would be more effective if all the teachers had all struck together. But the strike has the potential to take our campaign forward.
We will need to target escalated action in colleges facing redundancies backed up by more national strikes
