Jury speaks out to criticise firm over Battersea crane deaths

Issue No. 2294

A inquest jury has returned a verdict strongly criticising Falcon Cranes, the company involved in a 2006 crane disaster that killed two people in Battersea, south London.

The coroner did not allow the jury to consider an unlawful killing verdict, effectively protecting Falcon from having to face manslaughter charges.

The families of Michael Alexa and Jonathan Cloake, the two men killed by the crane, say this was a preventable accident. The refusal to consider an unlawful killing verdict was a 'massive disappointment', they added.
